Tancred Schiavoni represents insurance and reinsurance companies in a variety of disputes, including bad faith claims and environmental coverage litigation. Tanc has represented carriers in cases in a number of states, including New Jersey, New York, and New Hampshire. He has also conducted and assisted in mediations and provided coverage advice to clients to assist them in avoiding disputes without the need for litigation. Tanc participated at trial in the defense of a major environmental coverage action involving multiple parties and claims for coverage exceeding US$500 million. Tanc also was involved in the trial of another major multiparty coverage dispute involving coverage claims in a dozen states and Canada.
Chambers USA notes that Tanc is “known as a go-to lawyer on high-stakes mass tort and insurance bad faith litigation.” During Tanc’s tenure as co-chair of the firm’s Insurance Practice, the group was a three-time recipient of the distinguished “Practice Group of the Year” recognition from Law360.
Apart from his work for insurance companies, Tanc has been active in a broad range of complex commercial litigation and appeals in both federal and state court, involving such issues as accountants liability, fraudulent conveyance, securities, and employment litigation. Tanc has represented lenders and borrowers in actions involving securities transactions and loans. He has also been involved in a variety of adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court.
