Skanthan’s practice focuses on structured finance and derivatives. Skanthan represents banks and securitization sponsors in connection with the formation and structuring of cash and synthetic CLOs, CDOs, and other types of securitization vehicles as well as other types of credit-focused investment funds. Skanthan has experience securitizing a wide variety of asset classes, including broadly syndicated and middle market corporate loans, card receivables, leases and other esoteric assets.
Skanthan regularly advises clients on regulatory issues relating to structured finance and derivatives, including transaction structuring, bankruptcy close-out analysis, and regulatory and compliance obligations arising under the US securities laws, such as the securitization risk retention rules, the Commodity Exchange Act, the Volcker Rule and the Dodd-Frank Act. In addition, Skanthan has extensive experience advising clients on repurchase agreements, swap agreements, warehousing agreements, margin lending facilities, prime brokerage facilities, and related regulatory issues.
In recent years, Skanthan’s practice has focused on the financing and securitization of digital currency-backed assets, such as cryptocurrency-backed loans.
Skanthan served as a reservist in the US Marine Corps from 1998-2002.
