Jared Ginsburg is a skilled attorney with experience in all phases of litigation, successfully navigating clients from the earliest stages of an investigation to jury trials and through appeals. Jared focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense and corporate investigations, complex civil litigation, and regulatory matters, regularly defending individuals, corporations, and public entities facing allegations of healthcare fraud, tax evasion, and violations of campaign finance, foreign agent registration, and civil rights laws. He has particular knowledge and expertise in Medicare Advantage and managed care matters.
Jared also has extensive experience representing clients in national security matters, with a particular focus on foreign agent registration laws. He regularly counsels clients on FARA obligations, including preparing FARA regulatory filings and coordinating such matters with the DOJ FARA Unit. When potential violations of such laws arise, Jared conducts internal investigations and assists clients with responding to subpoenas and other information requests. Jared has also successfully represented such clients pre- and post-indictment and at trial.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Jared received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he served as chair of the Board of Advocates and led the Berkeley Law Trial Advocacy Team to two national championships. While in law school, Jared worked at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California as an Economic Crimes and Securities Fraud law clerk and also served as a Graduate Student Instructor, teaching multiple undergraduate courses on political campaign strategy and legal aspects of business management.
- Represented billionaire private equity executive, who was acquitted following two-month federal criminal jury trial involving charges that he acted as an illegal foreign agent, made multiple false statements, and obstructed justice.
- Represented individual in federal criminal investigation by US Attorney's Office in Los Angeles alleging violations of campaign finance laws and Foreign Agents Registration Act, which was resolved with no criminal charges filed.
- Representing private equity and venture fund clients on compliance with Foreign Agent Registration Act and related laws, including preparing regulatory FARA filings, submitting requests for advisory opinions, and responding to DOJ inquiries and investigations into FARA compliance.
- Representing large public entity in responding to state government investigation of potential pattern and practice of civil rights abuses by local law enforcement organization.
- Defending Fortune 100 health care plan in False Claims Act suit filed by US DOJ in connection with the submission of Medicare Advantage data to the government.
- Represented witness in Special Counsel’s investigation into interference in the 2016 US presidential election.
