Grant Gibson is a skilled litigator with experience handling a wide range of complex commercial disputes. He has represented clients in trial and appellate courts across the country, including the Federal Circuit, the Eastern District of Texas, the International Trade Commission, multiple Texas State Courts, the Southern District of New York, and the Northern District of California. Grant is skilled at applying an analytical and forward-thinking approach to litigation to protect and advance clients’ interests and to assist clients with navigating issues that arise during litigation.

While Grant’s litigation practice focuses mainly on patent litigation and other intellectual property and technology matters, he has counseled clients in connection with a broad range of other commercial disputes, including trade secret, trademark, and employment disputes. He has also counseled clients with respect to white collar matters.

Grant has experience representing clients in all phases of a dispute. He has taken the pen on pre-suit communications, prepared pleadings, assisted with all phases of fact and expert discovery, drafted briefing for procedural and dispositive motions, participated as an integral member of teams preparing for evidentiary hearings and trials, and represented clients on appeal.

Before beginning his career as a litigator, Grant served as a judicial law clerk to Judge James Wesley Hendrix of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. During his clerkship, Grant drafted memorandums, assisted with the preparation of substantive written orders, and helped prepare four cases for jury trials, two of which reached a jury verdict.

Grant is an active member of his community. He enjoys working on a range of pro bono matters, including matters for indigent litigants and religious-liberty matters. He also serves as a Substitute Teaching Leader for the Bible Study Fellowship Dallas Young Adults Class.

  • Assisted with securing a judgment of patent invalidity for a multinational electronics manufacturing company in an action in the Eastern District of Texas involving a patent related to image processing technologies
  • Assisted with securing dismissal of a patent-infringement action against a multinational IoT and cybersecurity software company in the Western District of Texas involving patents related to providing instant alerts to remote electronic devices 
  • Assisted with securing a determination of a violation before the International Trade Commission (ITC) for a multinational video surveillance company petitioning the ITC for an exclusion order based on infringement of patents related to facial-recognition technology and secure software updates of electronic devices
