For the first time in at least two decades, the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas overtook the Southern District of New York in terms of large corporate filings. “The changes in the local rules here at least leveled the playing field so that there weren’t other districts like the Southern District of Texas or Delaware where somebody would say, 'You should file here either because the first-day hearings can be done remotely or more smoothly or more efficiently,’” said O’Melveny partner and co-chair of the firm's restructuring practice Lou Strubeck.
